Council to vote on $14M debt issue.

The New Braunfels Town Council could free up the money to back a few public improvement projects on Mon. . "We've spent the last 2 years making an attempt to get things in position and get these projects under way, and we are starting to see the payoff.". More than half of the moulah $7.8 mln will go toward the acquisition of properties along the north side of Walnut to dilate the street and ease traffic congestion for future motorists. Construction isn't prepared to start till 2010. Another giant chunk of the debt will fund the initial phases of what at last will be a new public works area and fire coaching facility. "It's actually a great location for those facilities" Morrison claimed. The total $14.3 m. debt service also will devote $1 m. each to pay back Comal Independent Faculty District for street enhancements built on Morningside Drive and Goodwin Lane. The town will receive sixteen acres of future park land as a part of the accord with CISD. "They engineered and are building those 2 sections of roadway and we get sixteen acres of land for a park opposite to the school.". Another $1 mill will pay for drainage enhancements on the South Tributary with bids for its construction booked to go out in the autumn, according to Morrison. The certificates are lined up to be paid back in full in twenty years using moulah picked up from ad valorem property taxes. Fitch and Standard and Poor's both gave the town an AA- rating a rank above its prior A rating. New Braunfels' Money Director Deborah Korinchock conjectured that improved rating led straight to the town getting a 0.15 p.c better rate of interest. "That interprets into savings of approximately $250000, and that sure is a conservative estimate" Korinchock declared. The debt would make up approximately nineteen p.c of the town's total debt load and would be the equivalent of $.033 on the town's tax rate. The precise rate may not be set till a last 2008-09 budget is authorized by Council. Also on Mon. , the Council could approve adding 5 new firefighters to the New Braunfels Fire Dep. in addition to 3 new lieutenants. The Council will also hear the 1st reading of an ordinance that would change college section times in the town to become more in accordance with new start and finish times at area faculties. Immediately after a budget workshop beginning at five p.m.

Not that I know - If the interest rate on the consolidation loan i sstrangely high or the loan has other costs linked to it, you may not be helping yourself financially to get the loan.
